Japan Disaster Affects The World's Economy

The huge disaster that happened in Japan is making a bad impact on the country, and all on the world. Japan stock markets decreased more than 5 percent today as the country is trying to rebuild. The concerns about nuclear safety is also in the mind of the nation. The first day of work since the quake hit Japan the central Bank had to work a lot harder to keep the economy on track. Japan's bank announced a record of $183.8 billion into money markets in an attempt to keep the country’s financial system stable and its trading system functioning. In my opinion the world is really affected because Japan is not a little country but they are world’s third-largest economy and when they are affected by something like a disaster not only they are affected but the world is.

China raising interest rate again

On Thursday for the fourth time in 6 month China raised interest rate. The one-year lending rate rose by the same  amount, to 6.31 percent. The latest rate increases was announced on a national holiday when the financial  markets were closed , some analysts believe that it  will be followed by another increase in May.In my opinion raising interest rate is a good thing because it force people to hold more money in  their accounts and makes it very expansive for companies or individuals to borrow money from the bank which would help upward pressure on prices.

The sales of auto increases on March

During the last month for the first time General Motors was outsold by Ford Motor Company. Regardless of the high gasoline prices and the stoppages of production in Japan, new-vehicle sales increased over all. Ford sales rose 16 percent in March from a year ago it reported a 10 percent increase with sold 212,777 vehicles, 6,156 more than G.M.  Chrysler sales also grew up to 31 percent which is very nice. In my opinion the increases of cars sales that was made was very impressive with all the bad thing that is happening in Japan right now an the stoppages of cars production.

New york city take less on school budget

The New York City Department on Monday decided to cut on school budget. Schools Chancellor Cathleen P. Black said that 50 cents would be taken on every dollars principals had managed to save. But Mayor Micheal Bloomberg who agreed at the beginning said after the meeting on Monday, “I immediately signed off on it.” In my opinion this is a bad thing that they had plan and I am glad that they decided to not do it anymore because this could have had a big effect on the school in the U.S.

AT&T and T-Mobile merge

AT&T and T-Mobile merge for $39 billion of dollars. This actual merge of AT&T and T-Mobile will put many small company as Sprint and Metro PCS  might be out of the competition. Paul Reynolds, electronics editor at Consumer Reports said “Without some of the smaller competitors, you won’t have the competitive pressure that leads to lower prices and innovations and offerings among the carriers,”. In my opinion this merge is not a good idea because AT&T is a very expansive company and if they merge with T-Mobile it might become more expansive than it is already.

Tsunami Crashes Into Japan

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan on Friday. Having an earthquake and a tsunami crushing on Japan really affected the civilian in many different way as, many people dying and lots of businesses destroyed. Police said that more than 200 bodies were found in Sendai a port city in the northeastern part of the country. By having all of these natural disasters happening in the country Japan is now in very big trouble because, their economy is really going down and it is really affecting people and affecting the world. In my opinion this is going to be very hard for Japan to come back to the way they were before because, there was a lots of destruction.

High School students and stress

The stress faced by teenagers today is more complicated then most adults, teachers and parents would understand. Lots of teenagers today have to deal with a lots of stress and most of the time, the adults around them don't understand what they are going through with all of that stress. Most of them would mostly think that the teenagers are just to lazy which is wrong. These stress can have many different effect on student as suicide which is very bad and many others too. Psychologist Dr. Anita Barrows, who has 25 years of experience counseling children and adolescents, estimates that 60 to 70 percent of teenagers are affected negatively by stress. In my opinion adults should listen more to teenagers and their problem instead of think that they are just to lazy.

Ivory Coast businesses seriously affected by post-election crisis

Daniel Brechat president of Ivory Coast's small companies (SMEs), says that entreprisis are really affect by the crisis in the country. Hotels, restaurants and all other services have been fully affected. Some people were also forced to closed their businesses or let go of some of the employees because there was not enough money to pay them.In my opinion this could all be resolved if they decide which of the presidents will take over to control  the country, this could really help the economy but, it will take a long time before everything comes back to normal.

The Walmart controversy

The controversy of Walmart coming to NYC faced a big hearing. Some people think that having a Walmart would be a good thing because it's cheap and it's a big store where you could mostly find everything. On the other hand some people think that having Walmart is not a good idea because it makes people lose their jobs and it also forces the small business owner to close because they can not compete against that giant "Walmart". Many important figure in the United States are involved in that problem. Mayor Bloomberg says" the retailer has a right to open in the city, and would employ a large number of people" . In my opinion having Walmart is a bad idea because it makes all of these small business close and it makes lots of people lose job, and if they lose their jobs, they can not feed there family which is a very bad for some people.
